Min nya blog på WordPress nu aktiv
Jag har tillbringat en jättekul morgon med att installera WordPress på min server under Linux. WordPress verkar ha all den funktionalitet som MovableType har, plus något mycket unikt som gör att jag antagligen kommer att fortsätta att använda den: Deras rent fantastiska support. Om man ställer en fråga på deras support forum så får man svar inom någon minut. Jag kommer att fortsätta den här bloggen tills jag har flyttat över all funktionalitet till min nya blog och testat all dess funktionalitet.
En sak som WordPress ger mig är automatisk ping av bl.a. weblogs.se. Med blogger måste jag pinga manuellt.

Wordpress, det bästa blogverktyget?
Jag har installerat och jobbat litet med blogverktyget Wordpress och vad jag kan se så verkar det vara det absolut bästa blogverktyget idag. Det är skrivet i PHP och använder Apache och MySql men kan också använda IIS. Jag installerade det ovanpå ApacheFriends på Windows XP och det var mycket enkelt. Man kan pinga blogaggregatorer i WordPress, något som jag absolut ville ha, och det finns också en jättefin layout på binarybonsai en fin dansk sajt. Jag kan inte längre se någon fördel med att använda MovableType.
En speciellt imponerande sak med WordPress är deras fantastiska support. Jag har fått svar på mina frågor inom 10 minuter, något som man aldrig får i den kommerciella världen.
Vad WordPress saknar -för närvarande - är olika lättkonfigurerade blog-layout. Man kan antingen använda den superba binarybonsai eller också redigera css-filen i WordPress, vilket i och för sig inte är speciellt svårt.

Multiply är en ny kompissajt. Det kommer ständigt nya sajter av den här typen.
Det bästa blogverktyget?
Jag har beslutat mig för att undersöka en del andra blogverktyg vid sidan om MovableType. De två mest populära och samtidigt de två med den största marknadsandelen verkar vara Wordpress och b2evolution. Jag har installerat b2evolution tidigare men jag tycker inte att den är speciellt enkel att använda.
Jag skall nu kolla wordpress. Som de flesta blogverktyg är den byggd i Apache, PHP och MySQL. Vilket betyder att man borde kunna installera den i ApacheFriends.

Konsten att Blogga
Jag började skiva den här webkrönikan av en ren slump den 1:a april i år. Jag blev förbluffad över att jag överhuvudtaget fick någon läsare, och lika förbluffad över att jag aldrig, vad jag än gjorde, kunde få mer än omkring 60 läsare per dag. Mycket beror givetvis på hur bra man skriver, och lika mycket på vad man skriver om. Men en lika viktig faktor, tror jag, beror på hos vilka blog aggregatorer man är listad. Nu vill jag - mest på skoj - se om jag kan komma över 100-läsar gränsen. Så hur gör man?
Ja jag måste byta från www.blogspot.com till Movable Type. Och eftersom det inte finns några blogsajter som tillhandahåller fria Movable Type bloggar vad jag kan se så måste jag köra den på min egen sajt. Inga problem. Jag kommer att forstätta att blogga här tills jag får upp min andra blog, som ligger på www.frantzell.org/mt.

Dom här siffrorna ger en ganska bra bild av hur stor bibeltroheten är i USA just nu.
A Rasmussen Reports survey of 1,000 Likely Voters taken at the time Newsom was issuing the licenses found that just 32% believed the gay and lesbian couples who received them were "legally married." Sixty-one percent (61%) disagreed, while 7% were not sure.
The survey also found that 66% of Americans opposed Newsom's decision to issue marriage licenses for gay and lesbian couples. Only 24% favored that decision.
As for the judges in Massachusetts who mandated same sex marriage for their state, 62% of American voters believed the judges exceeded their authority. Only 28% believed these judges acted appropriately.
On the national level, when the President nominates new judges, 57% believe he should select judges opposed to gay marriage. Twenty-three percent (23%) believe that this issue should not be an important consideration, and 17% would prefer judges favoring gay marriage.

Tommy Körberg som säkerhetsrisk i USA
Fler och fler svenskar blir nu portade från USA - utan förklaring - som säkerhetsrisker. Nu senast Tommy Körberg. Alla svenskar måste nu också ha visum för att resa till USA. Detta gäller dock inte för amerikaner som vill besöka Sverige. Tydligen är Sverige inte lika säkerhetsmedvetet som USA eftersom Tommy Körberg fortfarande får gå fri. Ett par år i Guantanamo skulle säkert göra honom mer medgörlig.
Men det finns en ytterst allvarlig aspekt på detta. Om Tommy Körberg och Jan Guillou står i CIAs register som säkerhetsrisker, hur många andra oskyldiga står då också där. Och vad händer de oskyldiga amerikaner som också står där?
Hur många svenskar står f.ö. upptagna i dessa register? Ja låt oss gissa. Alla svenskar som besökt USA först av allt. Sedan, eftersom de flesta flygbolag nu samarbetar med USA i "kriget mot terrorismen" alla svenskar som flugit någonstans det senaste året. Jag gissar även de som endast flugit inom Sverige.
Och sedan? Ja med stor säkerhet alla som använder VISA eller American Express. Om alla som använder mobiler och SMS registreras ännu vet vi givetvis inte. Men de kommer säkert snart att registreras. Kina gör det redan med hjälp av Cisco och andra switch-tillverkare, liksom med hjälp från Nokia.
Att det amerikanska Echelonsystemet redan registerar en stor del av all epost antar man.
Det farliga här är att även om all denna registrering ännu inte sker så är det tekniskt utomordentligt lätt att införa den. Tiotusentals svenskar får redan sin epost kollad på jobbet utan att de vet om det. Vi får anta att precis som Bush-regeringen nu kräver att EU-pass skall se ut på ett visst sätt så kommer samarbetet i "kriget mot terrorismen" att ständigt utökas och mer och mer insamling av person-information skickas till USA. (Däremot skickas så gott som ingen information alls den andra vägen vad jag vet).
Bushs ursinniga attack mot Kerry
Den som har möjlighet bör själv se Bushs ursinniga attack mot Kerry Ett antal amerikanska soldater och officerare som tjänstgjorde i Vietnam med Kerry och som alla har vunnit medaljer för sin militärtjänst där påstår alla med en röst att Kerry ljuger om sin Vietnamtjänstgöring; att han vann sina egna medaljer på ett ohederligt sätt och att han inte är en hederlig människa. De här anklagelserna har framförts tidigare, men just nu verkar de ha fått stor genomslagskraft. Kerry har hittils inte lyckats hantera anklagelserna på ett effektivt och trovärdigt sätt.

Guardian har en bra artikel om hur Bush sopar mattan med Kerry. Det omöjligt att förstå hur totalt aningslösa Kerry och hans kampanj är. Kerry är rent pinsam och kan komma att förlora stort mot Bush. Det visar också klart och tydligt att han inte är redo att bli president. Han har helt enkelt inte den tuffhet och den slughet som krävt. Ledsamt och mycket farligt för världen.

Superdeppigt: Norrköping en regnig söndagseftermiddag
I slutet av juli kom vi till Norrköping tidigt en söndagseftermiddag.
Vi hade varit i London och bl.a. sett Edward Hopperutställnigen på Tatemuseet.
Jag har alltid tyckt att Hopper kunde uttrycka ensamheten i USA på ett fantastiskt sätt. På många sätt liknar hans mest kända målning Nighthawks (Se ovan) Edward Munchs Skriet.
Norrköping en regnig söndagseftermiddag i juli är något av det ensammaste och dystraste jag någonsin har upplevt i hela mitt liv. Dagen efter var vi tillbaks i London och riktigt frossade i folkmassor utanför Saatchi galleriet. Jag vet inte vad det var och jag vet att Ulf Lundell har en sång om Norrköping, men som sagt, det var grymt dystert. Och konstigt nog var det precis lika få människor på gatorna kl 4 på morgonen när vi var på väg till flygbussen som det var kl 16:00 kvällen innan.
Man undrar, var är alla mänmniskor? En hel stad tom, som en Science Fiction-bok. Och sedan det stilla regnet och de gråna skyarna. Ibland ropar dottern mer och mer desperat, "är inte det en människa där borta på andra sidan torget?"
Den engelske spionen Guy Burgess som flydde till Stalins Sovjetunionen tyckte om att berätta hur det var att bo i Kuybyshev. Tänk er, sade Burgess som hade humor, Glasgow en regning fredagkväll på 1800-talet, då har ni Kuybyshev. Ja och Norrköping.
Hade Edward Hopper besökt Norrköping innan han målade tavlan ovan hade det inte funnits en sabla kotte inne på fiket. :-)

Before I let you know what is happening out on the campaign trail, I wanted to say thank you for your overwhelming response to yesterday's email from Mary Beth Cahill. Thousands of you stepped forward to help us by supporting the Democratic Party. This will have a tremendous impact between now and Election Day.
Since the convention, I have been traveling by bus, train, plane, and even boat through more than a dozen states. Our nation is amazingly beautiful, and seeing it from a train is a wonderful experience. If you ever have the opportunity to cross the country in this way, I really recommend it. I have been even more amazed by the thousands of people who have met us at stations in even the smallest of small towns -- all coming to be a part of this campaign.
One of my favorite moments of this trip came as we passed through Winslow, Arizona, where supporters had gathered along the tracks. One group held up two bed sheets with messages painted on in giant print: "You give us 10 minutes -- We'll give you eight years." I stopped the train and gave them fifteen.
Yesterday, after switching from train back to bus, I attended a town hall meeting with elderly Americans in Henderson, Nevada. Like so many other moments along this trip, it reinforced how much is at stake in this election. We heard from a first grade teacher who cannot retire because of rising costs of living; a Vietnam veteran and victim of Agent Orange who cannot collect his full disability pay while receiving his pension; and a woman whose insurance plan does not cover treatments she needs.
The rising cost of health care is hardest to bear for our nation's seniors, especially when it comes to the price of prescription drugs. It is causing millions of seniors real pain, and yet this it is a problem that can be solved with a simple, commonsense plan.
Yesterday, I called on the Bush administration to stop blocking the re-importation of safe, FDA-approved drugs from Canada. Leaders from both parties, including Trent Lott, John McCain and Ted Kennedy, agree on this issue, and it's time the White House did too.
Drug prices have risen 11.5% in just the last year alone, and prescription drugs sometimes cost twice as much in America as they do in Canada. As a result, members of the greatest generation are still making the greatest sacrifices when they should be enjoying retirement. They're cutting their pills in half. They're choosing between filling their prescriptions and heating their homes. At the same time, we are told that the best we can do for them is a Medicare bill that's riddled with waste, corporate handouts, and rules that inexplicably bar Medicare from negotiating with drug companies for lower prices.
This is unacceptable and, as president, I will fight for a real Medicare drug benefit -- one that doesn't force seniors into HMOs and doesn't put protection for the sky-high drug costs into law. We need a Medicare drug benefit that serves our country's seniors, not one that gives hand outs to big insurance companies. Read more about my plan for America's seniors here:
